This World Photography Day, Allen’s Camera is proud to celebrate our friend and customer Massimo Di Trapani, a world-class Italian photographer and videomaker whose work captures the raw energy and beauty of motorsport.
Based in Milan, Massimo has built his career around documenting enduro and off-road motorcycle racing. What makes his work so distinctive is that he isn’t just behind the camera—he’s an enduro rider himself. His riding skill allows him to access rugged trails, remote race stages, and dynamic vantage points that most photographers simply can’t reach. This unique perspective gives his photography a level of authenticity and action few can match.
Massimo’s career is filled with remarkable achievements. He served as the official Yamaha team photographer for the famous Africa Eco Race across Northern Africa. He has traveled to Ukraine by motorbike during the war to document the plight of orphans for Italian television, to record and photograph the resilience and humanity in the most difficult of circumstances. For the past seven years, Massimo has also been the official photographer for Beta Motorcycles, capturing the identity and design of one of the most storied brands in motorcycling.
When it comes to equipment, Massimo shoots on Canon’s professional mirrorless lineup—including the Canon R5, R5C, and C70—to capture both stills and video. As he explains, “I travel with a very heavy backpack, and mirrorless made this more easy—starting from the battery, for example. Every gram counts in my backpack.” His choice of gear reflects both his professional needs and his reality as a rider and traveler covering demanding terrain.
